Between September and February, the GM Living Income team trained 50 community leaders in community organising.
In September, our Oldham team came together for 2 days to kickstart their team and organising work together.
In November, on a frosty, sunny day in Ashton, people from Manchester, Oldham, Tameside and Middleton came together to develop their leadership and organising practice.
We shared our stories, built relationships, and owned our power. And closing reflection summed up the the care and determination shown throughout the day - ‘without love, we cannot be united’
And in February, leaders jumped head first into negotiations in real time.
People shared stories of why a Living Income is still so important to communities across our city region. From people not being supported to reach their potential, to families giving up everything just to put food on the table.
And of course, we did this is all with a lot of hugs, laughter and some bloody brilliant onion bhajis.
We’re training and developing leaders, and building our local teams in Manchester, Tameside, Middleton and Oldham to build our collective power across the city region.
